Compliments of the New Year and I’m sure most of you are excited about creating new music in 2021. Sure 2020 was a terrible year and the music industry was hard hit (We all know why). But as the saying goes “We will either find a way or make one” (unknown).
Anyway the least said about 2020 the better – it’s time for new beginnings. If want to create music and improve your productions, you need to make sure that your gear is in order – Especially in these times because most of you are working from your home-based studios.
In the following blog post I have compiled a list of online music stores that you might want visit in 2021. Whether you’re looking for instruments or music production equipment, these stores will cater for your all music needs. In no particular order:
- Beveey
- Soundselect
- AudioMart
- Marshall Music
- Bothners
1. Beveey
Beveey.co.za was founded in June 2020 and previously traded as TTMSA Direct. Although the store is marketed as a consumer electronics online retailer, 85% of their catalogue comprises of music equipment related products.
Their business is strictly online which means you can’t walk into a physical store and purchase a product of your choice. All orders are processed online and delivered to customers anywhere in South Africa.
2. Soundselect
Soundselect is an automatic choice on the internet for most audio geeks. If you can search online for any music related product you want, Soundselect appears in the top 3 music stores (on Google).
The store has been in existence for over a decade now and their offline presence has given them a boost compared to other online music stores.
Soundselect’s market is mostly music producers, and musicians.
3. AudioMart
If there’s one business that grew within a short space of time, it would have to be AudioMart. Audio Mart was founded in 2016 as an online music store and it was a giant (online) by 2017.
AudioMart is based in Durban and operates strictly as an online music shop, and their strategy seems to be working for them.
You can find most of the popular brands as Behringer, M-Audio, Hybrid and many more at reasonable prices.
4. Marshall Music
Marshall Music has been in existence for over three decades (1986 to be exact) and their physical presence has somehow made it easier for them to compete online.
However if you don’t believe in purchasing music gear online, then you can simply walk into one of their music stores. They have branches countrywide in most provinces and major cities.
5. Bothners Music
Bothners is one of the oldest music shops in South Africa. Like Marshall Music, they have stores in every major city (Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban, Port Elizabeth) so your options are not limited to online purchases.
Conclusion
There is plenty of music stores that you can choose to purchase from but I compiled the above list to save you time and money. Most of these shops offer competitive pricing for the same branded products that some shops can’t match.
